We had the opportunity to support the Fisher House. Each Fisher House provides free room and stay for Military families who have veterans or active military family members currently in the VA Hospital. During this emotional time for those families, the Fisher House encourages willing volunteers to provide a simple, yet meaningful service that many take for granted – a home cooked meal.
Our Inflowees and their families at the San Antonio HQ site got together to cook the residents some good old fashion, Tex-Mex cuisine: enchiladas!
Here’s what some of our Inflowees and their kids said about it:
“My Family was truly honored to help out at the Fisher House. We have never had exposure to such an opportunity and didn’t quite understand the impact we could have for the families. After being there and better understanding the mission, it made it feel like we were actually making a difference for families who are enduring a tough go in life at the moment.” – Ricky L.
“Dad! That was a lot of fun to cook for those families! And did you see how big the back yard was? That house was really cool!” – Ricky L.'s son
We are honored to be able to support these families and are looking forward to more opportunities to do it again. To learn more about the Fisher House or to find a location near you, visit https://www.fisherhouse.org/
Every Inflowee receives 16 hours of Volunteer Paid Time Off to support the charity of their choice. As a part of who we strive to be as Inflowees, we encourage each Inflowee to use their paid Volunteer time to support their local communities. This is just one way we Make it Matter.
